Book a large order on a sale order and bill it in parts as it is delivered. For a big job, a payment schedule such as 50% advance and 50% on delivery raises an invoice for each stage. Pro.
Sale ordersDesign hours billed
Log the hours your designer spends on a client's job, as 1:30 or 1.5, with a rate from the person or the service. A week grid shows each person's time. Turn a client's unbilled hours into an invoice. Free; switch on Time & expenses in Settings › Business Type first.
Materials and expenses billed
Bought special paper or a frame for a client? Record it as an expense marked bill to client, with a markup if you like, and it is billed with the client's unbilled hours on one invoice made from Time & Expenses. Free.
Job work for lamination and binding
Send printed sheets to a laminator or binder on a job work challan, receive them back with any scrap, and keep the ITC-04 file ready for your CA. Job work is part of the Pro manufacturing module; switch on Production in Settings › Business Type to see it.

Deliver an order in lots on delivery challans and bill several challans on one invoice at month end. Pro.
What a delivery challan isMonthly clients and dues
A school or shop that orders every month can get a recurring invoice, weekly, monthly or yearly. Credit periods give each bill a due date, and the outstanding report shows who owes what. Free.

Simple numbers, so you can follow each step.
Monday: a new shop's order. A new shop wants a 10 × 4 ft flex board, 2,000 visiting cards and 500 bill books' covers. You make a quotation: the flex at ₹18 a sq ft as 10 × 4 × 1, which the line works out as 40 sq ft, the cards and the covers by quantity. You send the PDF.
Tuesday: confirmed. The shop agrees. You convert the quotation to a sale order and record the design time your designer spends: 2 hours on the logo and the board.
Wednesday: work goes out. The visiting cards need matt lamination, which a job worker does. You send the printed sheets on a job work challan; they come back the next day, and you record 20 spoilt sheets as scrap on the receipt.
Thursday: delivery. The flex and the cards go to the shop on a delivery challan. A special frame you bought for the board is entered as an expense marked bill to client with a 10% markup.
Friday: billing. You convert the challan to the invoice for the flex and the cards. Then, in Time & Expenses, you turn the client's unbilled design hours and the frame into a second invoice. Nothing done for the client is left unbilled.
- Printing work can be treated as goods or as a service depending on who supplies what; GST rates differ. Confirm each HSN or SAC and rate with your CA.
- Each line keeps its own HSN or SAC and rate, so a mixed bill splits tax line by line.

Yes. Log hours per client, person and service in Time & Expenses, with a rate from the person or the service. Turn a client's unbilled hours into an invoice. There is no running timer; hours are typed in.
Can I send work to a laminator or binder as job work?
Yes, on Pro. Send the material on a job work challan, record what comes back, with any scrap, and download the ITC-04 file for your CA.
Can I turn a quotation into an invoice?
