VyapRise vs Busy

Busy is desktop accounting and inventory software that many Indian traders and distributors know well. What Busy does well
Busy has long been a standard choice for traders, wholesalers and distributors who want accounting and inventory in one desktop package. Its plan page lists perpetual editions alongside 360-day subscriptions, multiple godowns (check which edition includes them), and batch-wise stock with manufacturing and expiry dates. A mobile app comes with its subscriptions, and BUSY On Cloud gives remote access.
Desktop software has real strengths. It is fast on the local computer, it keeps working when the internet drops, and an accountant who knows the keyboard shortcuts can post vouchers quickly. Many accountants are already comfortable with it.
Businesses start looking for a Busy alternative when work leaves the office: a partner who wants to check outstanding from home, a godown with its own staff, or a factory floor that needs production records next to the bills. That is the gap VyapRise is built for. If you are also weighing Tally, see the Tally comparison.

Moving your data from Busy
Import Data reads the older .xls files Busy exports, as well as .xlsx and CSV, so there is no conversion step. The item import has no batch or expiry columns.
| What you have in Busy | How it comes into VyapRise |
|---|---|
| Customers and suppliers | Export the list to Excel or CSV and load it with Import Data. Match the columns, preview every row, and fix anything listed in the error file. Nothing is saved until you confirm. |
| Items and raw materials | The same Import Data screen (materials can carry a reorder level). Item opening stock is not in the import; enter it on each item afterwards. Files can be .csv, .xlsx or .xls, up to 10 MB each. |
| What each party owes you | Enter it as an opening balance, so the customer ledger starts where your old books end. |
| Bills still unpaid from before | Load them with the Open invoices import, on any plan: each unpaid bill comes in as an opening bill of its customer, and the opening balance becomes what is still owed. No sale, tax or stock is booked twice. When the money comes, Receive Payment offers the bill, or you record the receipt against Old invoices (not in VyapRise); receipts are on Pro. |
| Past invoices and bills | Not imported, apart from the unpaid invoices above. Keep Busy, or its PDFs, for reference and start VyapRise from a clean date. |
There is no one-click import from Busy: everything comes through an Excel or CSV file exported from your old software.
A typical week after switching from Busy
A wholesale trader on Pro, with a shop, a godown across town and four staff. The figures are only an example.
On Monday morning, the owner checks yesterday's sales and outstanding in a phone browser before reaching the shop. No remote-desktop login, no waiting for someone to switch on the office computer.
At the godown, staff receive a supplier's truck against a purchase order and record a GRN. One lot fails the check, so it goes back on a purchase return, which raises a debit note against the supplier.
At the shop, the sales person bills a customer ₹10,000 plus 18% GST. The invoice splits CGST and SGST at ₹900 each for a total of ₹11,800, prints a UPI QR code, and the customer pays by scanning it. Stock goes down at once.
Midweek, a stock transfer moves 40 cartons from the godown to the shop, and the low-stock report shows which items need reordering.
On Saturday, the accountant allocates the week's receipts to invoices, checks the ageing report, and downloads a party ledger as a PDF for a customer who questions a balance. The accountant has a login of their own at no extra charge.
Who should stay on Busy
VyapRise usually fits
- Traders and distributors who want the owner, the shop and the godown on the same live data
- Small manufacturers who need production orders and job cards
- Businesses that want stock across warehouses at one flat Pro price per company
- Owners who would rather not maintain one Windows computer and a remote-access setup
Stay on Busy if
You work where the internet is unreliable: VyapRise needs a connection. It also sends no expiry alerts by SMS or WhatsApp, so if you need those, check whether your Busy edition sends them. If Busy already does what you need and nobody works away from the office computer, moving brings little.
Should you switch from Busy?
Switch if…
- You want to bill and check stock from a phone, a tablet or a second office without a remote-access setup
- Your staff and accountant all need logins, and you do not want to pay per user
- You manufacture and want BOM, production orders, job cards and QC beside your GST bills
- You want quotations, sale orders, challans and invoices linked, with delivered and invoiced quantity tracked on each line
Probably don't switch if…
Stay on Busy if you need to work without internet: VyapRise needs a connection. VyapRise has batch and expiry dates on Pro, with expiring stock in a daily email, but sends no expiry alerts by SMS or WhatsApp; if you need those, check whether your Busy edition sends them. Several companies under one login are fine: each is kept separate, with a switcher. If Busy already covers your counter and books and nobody works away from the office computer, the move may not be worth the effort.

Common questions
How much does VyapRise cost compared to Busy?
The Free plan is free forever for one user, the owner: sales billing with up to 10 invoices a month, 30 items and 10 customers, stock in one warehouse and reports for the current month. Pro is ₹1,499 per year and adds unlimited invoices, purchase bills, receipts and payments, staff users, quotations, orders and challans, purchase orders and GRN, more warehouses, manufacturing, POS, full accounting and GST reports, and every new company can try Pro free for 7 days. Pro has no per-user charge.
Can I move my data from Busy?
Yes. Import Data brings in customers, suppliers and items from Excel or CSV on every plan, and Pro adds Tally XML for ledgers and vouchers, so your accountant can keep working in Tally while your team uses VyapRise. From any other software, export your items and customers to Excel and import them, then enter each item's opening stock and each party's opening balance, so your books start where the old ones end.
Do I need to install any software?
No. VyapRise runs in any browser on a PC, Mac, tablet or phone, and can be added to an Android home screen like an app. Nothing to install on a specific machine.
Is VyapRise a good Busy alternative for a trader or distributor?
Yes, if you want the same data on every device without installing anything, and you value a full purchase cycle, unlimited users and optional manufacturing. GST sales invoicing, stock in one warehouse and party ledgers for the current month are on the Free plan; purchase bills, the full purchase cycle, more warehouses and staff logins are on Pro. It is not a good fit if you need to work offline, or need expiry alerts by SMS or WhatsApp, which VyapRise does not send.
Can VyapRise read my Busy data directly?
Not directly. There is no one-click Busy import. Take an Excel export of customers, suppliers and items from Busy, and Import Data reads it, including the older .xls format, with a preview before anything is saved. Past vouchers and paid invoices are not imported; keep Busy for looking them up. Unpaid customer invoices can come in from a sheet as opening bills; receiving their payment as a receipt is on Pro.
Does VyapRise work without internet, like Busy on my computer?
No. VyapRise runs in the browser and needs an internet connection. In exchange there is nothing to install on one computer, and the same data opens on every device you sign in from. You can also download a full company backup file whenever you want.
Can I keep batch and expiry details?
Yes, on Pro and in the 7-day free trial. Batch and expiry dates go on the purchase bill, each sale takes the earliest-expiring batch, and the Expiring Stock report lists batches expiring within the days you choose. On Pro the daily summary email also lists stock expiring in the next 30 days. There are no SMS or WhatsApp alerts.
