What Marg ERP does well
Marg ERP has a long history with distributors, stockists, FMCG traders and especially pharma. Its own site describes dedicated modules for retail, wholesale distribution, manufacturing and pharmacy, and batch-wise stock with expiry dates and near-expiry alerts that help a distributor return medicines to suppliers in time.
Marg ERP 9+ is installed on a desktop, and Marg Cloud is an online version for working from other devices. Companion apps listed on its site cover owners, field salesmen and retailers placing orders.
For a chemist or pharma distributor, expiry control is not optional, and Marg's site puts it at the front. VyapRise now covers much of that daily work too: salt search, schedules, prescriptions and an H1 register on any plan, and on Pro batch and expiry with earliest-expiry-first sales, an Expiring Stock report and a daily email of stock expiring in 30 days. VyapRise does not send SMS or WhatsApp expiry alerts or validate licences; if you need either, check whether Marg does it for you, and otherwise compare the two on a real week of bills.
Where VyapRise is different from Marg ERP
One browser-based system for the order-to-cash and purchase work a distributor or small factory does every day.
One version, in the browser
There is no desktop edition to install and no separate cloud product. Everyone signs in at app.vyaprise.com from a PC, Mac, tablet or phone. It needs internet.
Orders, challans and invoices linked
Sale orders track delivered and invoiced quantity per line, challans convert to invoices, and an unbilled-challan report shows what went out without a bill. Pro.
Distributor billingPurchase with a QC gate
Requisition, purchase order, GRN with a pending, passed or failed QC status, then the bill, return and debit note. Pro.
Sales and purchase ordersProduction on the shop floor
BOM, production plans, production orders with material issue, job cards and quality checks, with a standard cost that includes labour and overhead. Pro.
ManufacturingUnlimited users on Pro
Salesmen, store keepers, accountants and partners each get a login and a role. No per-user charge on Pro.
Receivables in one place
Invoice-wise outstanding, ageing buckets, receipt allocation and party statements you can share over WhatsApp from your phone. Pro; the Free plan shows the current month.

Moving your data from Marg
Import Data reads the older .xls files Marg exports, as well as .xlsx and CSV. The item import has no batch or expiry columns.
| What you have in Marg | How it comes into VyapRise |
|---|---|
| Customers and suppliers | Export the list to Excel or CSV and load it with Import Data. Match the columns, preview every row, and fix anything listed in the error file. Nothing is saved until you confirm. |
| Items and raw materials | The same Import Data screen (materials can carry a reorder level). Item opening stock is not in the import; enter it on each item afterwards. Files can be .csv, .xlsx or .xls, up to 10 MB each. |
| What each party owes you | Enter it as an opening balance, so the customer ledger starts where your old books end. |
| Bills still unpaid from before | Load them with the Open invoices import, on any plan: each unpaid bill comes in as an opening bill of its customer, and the opening balance becomes what is still owed. No sale, tax or stock is booked twice. When the money comes, Receive Payment offers the bill, or you record the receipt against Old invoices (not in VyapRise); receipts are on Pro. |
| Past invoices and bills | Not imported, apart from the unpaid invoices above. Keep Marg, or its PDFs, for reference and start VyapRise from a clean date. |
There is no one-click import from Marg: everything comes through an Excel or CSV file exported from your old software.
A typical week for a distributor after switching from Marg
A distributor of electrical goods and plastics on Pro, with two godowns, four salesmen and a delivery van. The figures are only an example.
Salesmen visit shops and enter orders as sale orders in their phone browsers. Back at the godown, the store keeper sees what to pack the same afternoon.
A shop orders 100 cartons, but only 70 are in stock. The challan goes out for 70, and the sale order keeps the 30-carton balance open, so it is delivered and billed later instead of forgotten.
When the delivery is confirmed, the challan converts into a tax invoice with the vehicle details on it. The unbilled-challan report shows any challan that has not been billed yet.
In the afternoon, the accountant records cheques and UPI receipts, allocates each against invoices, and opens the ageing report to see who has gone past 60 days.
Stock moves between the two godowns by transfer, and the stock summary shows value by warehouse at weighted-average cost. More on that in inventory management.

Common questions
How much does VyapRise cost compared to Marg ERP?
The Free plan is free forever for one user, the owner: sales billing with up to 10 invoices a month, 30 items and 10 customers, stock in one warehouse and reports for the current month. Pro is ₹1,499 per year and adds unlimited invoices, purchase bills, receipts and payments, staff users, quotations, orders and challans, purchase orders and GRN, more warehouses, manufacturing, POS, full accounting and GST reports, and every new company can try Pro free for 7 days. Pro has no per-user charge.
Can I move my data from Marg ERP?
Yes. Import Data brings in customers, suppliers and items from Excel or CSV on every plan, and Pro adds Tally XML for ledgers and vouchers, so your accountant can keep working in Tally while your team uses VyapRise. From any other software, export your items and customers to Excel and import them, then enter each item's opening stock and each party's opening balance, so your books start where the old ones end.
Do I need to install any software?
No. VyapRise runs in any browser on a PC, Mac, tablet or phone, and can be added to an Android home screen like an app. Nothing to install on a specific machine.
Is VyapRise a good Marg alternative for a medical store or pharma distributor?
For many, yes. VyapRise has two business types for this, Chemist shop / Pharmacy and Pharma distributor. Items carry the salt, brand, schedule and rack; on Pro, the POS counter offers in-stock substitutes for an out-of-stock salt; H1 and X lines need the doctor, registration number and patient, and there is an H1 register. On Pro, batch and expiry go on the purchase bill, each sale takes the earliest-expiring batch and never an expired one, the daily email lists stock expiring in 30 days, and expired stock can go back to the supplier on a purchase return. VyapRise does not validate drug licences, send SMS or WhatsApp alerts, or do e-invoicing. Our medical store billing software page has the details.
Can I import my Marg data?
Customers, suppliers and items, yes. Take an Excel export from Marg; Import Data reads the older .xls format as well as .xlsx and CSV, up to 10 MB a file, and shows a preview before saving. There is no one-click Marg import; past paid invoices are not imported, while unpaid customer invoices can come in as opening bills, with their payment received as a receipt on Pro.
Does VyapRise work offline like Marg ERP on a desktop?
No. VyapRise runs only in the browser and needs an internet connection. There is no desktop edition and no offline mode.
What does a distributor get on the Free plan, and what needs Pro?
The Free plan covers GST sales invoices (up to 10 a month), 30 items and 10 customers, stock in one warehouse, and outstanding and ageing for the current month, for the owner alone. Purchase bills, receipt allocation, sale orders with part delivery, delivery challans that convert to invoices, the unbilled-challan report, more warehouses with transfers and logins for your staff are on Pro, at ₹1,499 per year with no invoice limit. Every new company gets Pro free for 7 days.
