VyapRise vs Vyapar

A Vyapar alternative — with manufacturing built in

Vyapar is a well-established billing app used widely by traders and retailers. VyapRise covers the same GST billing ground, goes further on the factory side with production plans, production orders, job cards and quality checks, runs in the browser, and does not charge per user.

VyapRise and Vyapar are two different products from two different companies. If you were looking for Vyapar, this is not it — though you are welcome to compare.

What Vyapar does well

Vyapar earned its place with small traders by being quick to start. You install it, add a few items and bill the same day. Its own site lists apps for Windows, Mac, Android and iOS, and says you can keep working without internet — useful in a market lane or a godown with weak signal.

It covers the GST basics a shop needs: tax invoices, stock, multiple godowns and stock transfers. Its manufacturing plan records production, taking raw materials out of stock and putting finished goods in. For a retailer or trader billing from one counter, that is often all the software the business needs.

So the question is not whether Vyapar works. It is whether your business has grown past what a billing app is built for: a workshop that needs job cards and quality checks, a distributor with six staff who all need a login, or an owner who wants double-entry books behind every bill. Where VyapRise is different from Vyapar

Six differences that show up in daily work, not only on a feature list.

  • Production beyond a single entry

Production orders explode the BOM, check material stock, issue materials and put finished goods into stock. Job cards record good and rejected quantity and scrap weight, and quality checks pass or fail the output. The BOM gives a standard cost with labour, machine hours and overhead, and job work goes out with ITC-04. Pro.

    Manufacturing
  • A purchase cycle with checkpoints

Requisition, purchase order, goods receipt with a QC status, purchase bill, return and debit note, each linked to the one before. On Pro, and in the 7-day free trial.

    Sales and purchase orders
  • Double-entry books behind every bill

Every invoice, bill, receipt and payment posts a journal entry. Pro adds the chart of accounts, journal vouchers, trial balance, P&L and balance sheet.

    Accounting
  • Every person gets a login

Add your accountant, store keeper, sales staff and cashier, each with a ready role or a custom one. Staff logins are on Pro, with no per-user or per-device charge.

  • Stock from the Free plan up

In-app low-stock alerts and weighted-average stock value in one warehouse on Free, with stock moving on every sale. Pro adds purchase bills, stock entries, more godowns, stock per godown and transfers between them.

    Inventory
  • One browser, every device

Open app.vyaprise.com on a PC, Mac, tablet or phone and see the same live data. Nothing to install. It does need an internet connection.

Moving your data from Vyapar

Vyapar and VyapRise store data differently, so the move goes through a spreadsheet. This is what comes across, and how.

What you have in VyaparHow it comes into VyapRise
Customers and suppliersExport the list to Excel or CSV and load it with Import Data. Match the columns, preview every row, and fix anything listed in the error file. Nothing is saved until you confirm.
Items and raw materialsThe same Import Data screen (materials can carry a reorder level). Item opening stock is not in the import; enter it on each item afterwards. Files can be .csv, .xlsx or .xls, up to 10 MB each.
What each party owes youEnter it as an opening balance, so the customer ledger starts where your old books end.
Bills still unpaid from beforeLoad them with the Open invoices import, on any plan: each unpaid bill comes in as an opening bill of its customer, and the opening balance becomes what is still owed. No sale, tax or stock is booked twice. When the money comes, Receive Payment offers the bill, or you record the receipt against Old invoices (not in VyapRise); receipts are on Pro.
Past invoices and billsNot imported, apart from the unpaid invoices above. Keep Vyapar, or its PDFs, for reference and start VyapRise from a clean date.

There is no one-click import from Vyapar, but Import Data recognises the column names in Vyapar's Excel exports, so parties and items map with little manual matching. A party file with both customers and suppliers is loaded once as customers and once as suppliers.

A typical week after switching from Vyapar

How a small manufacturer that also trades might run a week in VyapRise on Pro. The figures are only an example.

On Monday, your sales person turns a quotation into a sale order for 500 units. The order shows how much is still to deliver and to invoice, so a part dispatch does not get lost.

On Tuesday, the store keeper receives raw material against a purchase order and records a goods receipt with QC pending. Once it passes, the purchase bill is created from the order, and it books the purchase, the GST input, the stock and the amount payable together.

On Wednesday, the factory manager raises a production order from the BOM. VyapRise checks material stock and issues the materials, and the job card records 480 good pieces, 20 rejected and the scrap weight. Finished goods go into stock with a material cost per unit.

On Thursday, a delivery challan goes out for 300 units and is converted into a tax invoice with a UPI QR code printed on it. You share the PDF from your phone over WhatsApp, or email the invoice or send its link so the customer can pay by UPI.

On Friday, the accountant records receipts, allocates each one to its invoices and checks invoice-wise ageing. Overdue bills show in the in-app bell, and on Pro automatic payment-reminder emails go to customers; WhatsApp and SMS reminders are still sent by you.

On Saturday, you open the stock summary and the low-stock report in your phone browser and plan next week's purchases.

Who should stay on Vyapar

VyapRise usually fits

  • Small manufacturers and assemblers who need BOM and production orders next to their bills
  • Traders and distributors with several staff, more than one godown and a proper purchase cycle (Pro)
  • Owners who want real books their CA can read, including Tally XML on Pro
  • Shops that want a POS counter with split payments, shift reports, returns and exchange, loyalty points and 80 or 58 mm receipts (Pro)

Stay on Vyapar if

You need to bill offline, you depend on a native phone app, or one counter with one user is all you run. VyapRise needs internet, has no Play Store app, and its extra depth is wasted on a business that only needs quick bills. VyapRise has batch and expiry dates on Pro, with stock expiring in 30 days listed in the daily email, but no SMS or WhatsApp alerts.

Should you switch from Vyapar?

Switch if…

  • You manufacture or assemble and want BOM, production orders, job cards and quality checks in the same place as your GST bills
  • You want every staff member and your accountant on the system without paying per user or per device
  • You need a full purchase cycle — requisition, purchase order, goods receipt with QC, bill and return — on Pro, at one flat price per company
  • You want real double-entry books behind every invoice, with P&L and balance sheet on Pro

Probably don't switch if…

If you need to bill offline, rely on a native phone app, or run a pure retail counter that Vyapar already handles well, there is no strong reason to move. VyapRise needs an internet connection and has no Play Store app. It is worth the switch mainly when production depth, purchase control or user count is the constraint.

Switching from Vyapar, step by step

  1. 01

    Create a free account

The Free plan is free forever and needs no card. Pro is open free for your first 7 days.

  2. 02

Bring your parties and items across

Export your parties and items from Vyapar to Excel and load the files with Import Data. Their column names are recognised, so the columns are matched for you. A party file with both customers and suppliers is loaded once as customers and once as suppliers. Check the preview; nothing is saved until you confirm.

  3. 03

    Enter opening stock and balances

Add each item's opening stock and each party's opening balance, so your first stock and outstanding reports agree with your old books.

  4. 04

    Bring in unpaid invoices

Load each customer's unpaid invoices with the Open invoices import, on any plan. They come in as opening bills, and no sale, tax or stock is booked again. When the money arrives, Receive Payment offers them; receipts are on Pro.

  5. 05

Start billing from a clean date

Begin on the first day of a month, so each GST return comes from one system. Your old bills stay in Vyapar for reference.

Common questions

How much does VyapRise cost compared to Vyapar?

The Free plan is free forever for one user, the owner: sales billing with up to 10 invoices a month, 30 items and 10 customers, stock in one warehouse and reports for the current month. Pro is ₹1,499 per year and adds unlimited invoices, purchase bills, receipts and payments, staff users, quotations, orders and challans, purchase orders and GRN, more warehouses, manufacturing, POS, full accounting and GST reports, and every new company can try Pro free for 7 days. Pro has no per-user charge.

Can I move my data from Vyapar?

Yes. Import Data brings in customers, suppliers and items from Excel or CSV on every plan, and Pro adds Tally XML for ledgers and vouchers, so your accountant can keep working in Tally while your team uses VyapRise. From any other software, export your items and customers to Excel and import them, then enter each item's opening stock and each party's opening balance, so your books start where the old ones end.

Do I need to install any software?

No. VyapRise runs in any browser on a PC, Mac, tablet or phone, and can be added to an Android home screen like an app. Nothing to install on a specific machine.

Is VyapRise the same as Vyapar?

No. VyapRise and Vyapar are separate products from different companies, with similar names. VyapRise is built in Ahmedabad and covers GST billing, inventory, accounting and manufacturing.

Does VyapRise work for a shop, or only for factories?

Both. GST sales billing, stock in one warehouse and reports for the current month are on the Free plan. Pro adds purchase bills, stock entries and a POS billing counter with barcode scanning. The production modules are there if you manufacture, and stay out of the way if you do not.

Can my staff and accountant log in too?

Yes, on Pro and during the 7-day free trial. Add as many users as you need, each with a role such as Accountant, Sales or Store Keeper; there is no per-user charge. The Free plan is for the owner alone.

Does VyapRise have a mobile app like Vyapar?

No. There is no VyapRise app on the Play Store or the App Store. It runs in the phone browser, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. It needs an internet connection; there is no offline mode.

Can I bring my Vyapar data across?

Yes, through Excel, on any plan (on Free, up to 30 items and 10 customers). Import Data recognises the column names in Vyapar's Excel exports of parties and items, so the columns are matched for you. A party file with both customers and suppliers is loaded once as customers and once as suppliers. Each customer's unpaid invoices can come in as opening bills; receiving their payment as a receipt is on Pro. It is not a one-click import: you check a preview before anything is saved, and past paid invoices stay in Vyapar.
