Point of Sale
POS Billing Software With No Per-Counter Fee
Scan, bill, take the money, print the receipt. VyapRise POS runs in a browser on the computer you already own, works with any barcode scanner and an 80 mm or 58 mm thermal printer, takes returns and exchanges at the counter, and every bill it prints goes straight into your GST reports and your stock. No per-counter licence and no install. The POS is part of VyapRise Pro — try it free for 7 days.
The billing screen: scan bar on top, the bill on the left, catalogue in the middle, and the receipt building itself on the right as you go. Hide the catalogue and the bill takes the full width.

Nothing to install
Runs in a browser on any PC, Mac or Android tablet. Nothing to update, ever.
Your existing scanner
Any USB or Bluetooth wedge scanner. Plug it in and it works — no driver.
No per-counter fee
Two tills or ten, same price: the POS is part of Pro at ₹1,499 per year.
One sale, start to finish
This is the whole job. A few seconds once the shortcuts are in your hands.
- 01
Scan the items
Each beep adds a line with its rate, GST rate and HSN already on it.
- 02
Type what they gave you
The change to hand back appears immediately, on the billing screen.
- 03
Press F10
Cash, UPI with a QR on screen, card, or split across them. Khata if it's on account.
- 04
Receipt prints
Stock drops, the sale posts to your books, the shift total updates.
30 things it does
Not a cut-down version of something else. This is the kind of till that is often licensed per counter.
Billing at the counter
9 features
The part that has to be fast, because there is a queue behind the person being served.
Barcode scanning
Any USB or Bluetooth wedge scanner works — it types the code and the item lands on the bill. No driver, no pairing software.
Search by name, SKU or barcode
For loose goods with nothing printed on them, type two letters and pick from the list.
Touch catalogue
Product tiles by category for a touchscreen till, or hide them and give the whole screen to the bill.
Quantity, rate and discount inline
Change any line on the bill itself. No dialog, no re-entering the item.
Wholesale price breaks
Set a trade price and the quantity it starts at. Sell one at retail, sell fifty at trade, automatically.
Hold and resume
Park a half-finished bill when a customer goes back for something, serve the next person, bring it back with F4.
Returns and exchange
F7 finds the old bill. Take items back, then refund the cash or net it against the new bill. A return window keeps very old bills out.
Offers that apply themselves
% or ₹ off a category, chosen items or the whole bill, for set dates, weekdays or hours. The cashier does not have to remember them.
IMEI and batch at the till
Serial-tracked items ask for the IMEI being sold; batch items offer the earliest-expiring batch. Both are Pro inventory features.
Taking the money
8 features
Cash, UPI, card, cheque, khata — or any combination of them on one bill.
Split payments
₹500 cash and the rest on UPI is one bill, not two. Each line records its own mode and reference.
Change to return
Type what the customer handed over and the change appears on the billing screen — before you open the payment dialog.
Balance due
Hand over less than the bill and the same panel turns amber and shows what is still owed.
Khata (credit) sales
Bill to a customer's account and the amount lands on their outstanding, not in the drawer. The shift still balances.
UPI and card to the right bank
Non-cash tenders are deposited against the bank account you choose, so reconciliation matches your statement.
UPI QR on the screen
Choose UPI and the till shows a scan-to-pay QR for that amount, paid into the bank account's UPI ID. No separate standee.
Loyalty points
Off until you switch it on. Named customers earn points on their bills and redeem them inside the bill discount.
Quick cash buttons
Up to four amounts worked out from the bill — the next round figures and the next note up — one tap each.
GST, done at the till
7 features
Counter sales are still taxable supplies. These bills go into your returns like every other invoice.
CGST / SGST / IGST
Split correctly by place of supply, per line, at each item's own rate.
MRP entered inclusive of tax
Type ₹100 for a ₹100 item. It is stored tax-exclusive so every report and return still reads it correctly.
HSN on every line
Carried from the item master onto the bill and into the HSN Summary.
Round off
The bill rounds to the rupee and the difference is posted, so the drawer and the books agree.
Counter sales in GSTR-1
B2C sales are summarised as B2CS; give a customer with a GSTIN and the same bill goes into B2B.
GST rate by price
For garments and footwear, an item's GST rate can switch above a per-piece value, and the till picks the right one for each line.
80 or 58 mm thermal receipt
Prints on 80 mm or 58 mm paper, with your shop's name, address, GSTIN and logo on it. A khata balance prints with a scan-to-pay QR.
Shifts and the cash drawer
6 features
The difference between a till and a billing screen: at the end of the day, the money has to be accounted for.
Open with a float
Record the cash you start the shift with, so expected cash means something.
Cash in / cash out
Money taken out for a supplier or put in mid-shift is logged, with a reason, against the shift.
Z-report at close
Sales by payment mode, expected cash against counted cash, and the difference — per shift, per cashier.
Multiple tills
Run two counters at once. Each is its own terminal with its own shift, and you can switch between them from the till screen.
Stock from the right godown
Each terminal is mapped to a warehouse, so a sale reduces stock where it actually left from.
Today's bills
Look up anything billed today and print it again — F3, and no digging through reports.
Worked by keyboard, not by mouse
A busy counter is no place to hunt for a button. Every key is printed on screen while you learn them, so nobody has to memorise a manual.
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| F2 | Pick or change the customer |
| F3 | Today's bills — look one up and reprint it |
| F4 | Bring back a held bill |
| F7 | Return or exchange items from a past bill |
| F8 | Jump to the bill discount |
| F10 | Pay and print |
| Ctrl + H | Hold the current bill |
| Del | Remove the highlighted line |
| Esc | Back to the scanner |
Shops it was built for
VyapRise was built for Indian traders and distributors, and the till reflects that — khata, MRP-inclusive pricing and wholesale rates are in it because those are how shops here sell.
Kirana & general stores
Barcode plus loose goods, udhaar and loyalty points for regulars.
Hardware & sanitary
Retail at the counter, trade rates for contractors.
Garment & footwear
Size-wise items, exchange at the counter with F7, festival rush.
Medical stores
HSN and GST rates per pack, printed receipts.
Electronics & mobile
IMEI picked on the bill, high-value bills split across card and UPI.
Stationery & gifts
Fast small baskets, cash-heavy, change every sale.
Wholesale counters
Quantity price breaks and account customers.
Cafés & food counters
Touch tiles instead of a scanner.
The till is not a separate app
Most standalone POS software is an island — it prints a receipt and you re-enter everything into your accounts later. Here the counter is one screen of the same ERP, so a sale is finished the moment the receipt prints.
Stock
Sold units leave the terminal's warehouse immediately. No end-of-day adjustment.
Books
The sale, the tax and the receipt post themselves. The day book is already written.
Returns
Counter sales appear in GSTR-1 with everything else. Nothing to key in again.
What is POS billing software?
POS stands for point of sale — the counter where the customer actually pays. POS billing software is what replaces the manual bill book and the calculator at that counter: it holds your item list with prices and GST rates, adds items to a bill as you scan or tap them, works out the tax and the total, records how the customer paid, and prints the receipt.
The difference between POS software and ordinary invoicing software is speed and cash handling. An invoicing screen is built for a bill you raise once a day with a customer's full details on it. A till is built for a bill you raise every ninety seconds for someone whose name you do not know — so it is worked by keyboard and scanner, it tells you the change to hand back, and at the end of the day it tells you how much cash should be in the drawer.
In India there is a third requirement: those counter bills are still taxable supplies. They need CGST/SGST/IGST split correctly and HSN codes on the lines, and they have to end up in GSTR-1 — which is where a standalone till that only prints receipts leaves you re-typing a day's sales into your accounts every evening.
VyapRise POS vs typical paid POS software
Paid till software is usually quoted per counter, per month, or both. Here is how that compares with VyapRise POS, which is part of the Pro plan — including the row where the other products win.
| VyapRise POS | Typical paid POS | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per counter | Part of Pro at ₹1,499 per year — no per-counter charge | Commonly licensed per terminal or per month |
| Cashier accounts | Unlimited, no per-seat charge | Often priced per user |
| Setup | Sign in and bill — nothing installed on the counter PC | Desktop install, often per machine |
| Accounting behind the till | Same system — the sale posts itself | Frequently a separate product, or an add-on |
| Stock behind the till | Same system, deducted from the terminal's warehouse | Sometimes separate, sometimes synced nightly |
| Barcode scanning | Yes — any wedge scanner | Yes |
| Thermal receipt printing | Yes — 80 or 58 mm | Yes |
| GST on counter bills | Yes — CGST/SGST/IGST, HSN | Yes, in Indian products |
| Split payments (cash + UPI) | Yes | Varies |
| Khata / credit sales | Yes — posts to the customer's ledger | Varies |
| Counter returns & exchange | Yes — F7, refund or net against a new bill | Varies |
| Loyalty points | Yes — earned and redeemed on the bill | Varies |
| Shift Z-report & cash reconciliation | Yes | Usually on higher tiers |
| Works offline | No — needs an internet connection | Desktop products usually do |
"Typical paid POS" describes the common shape of paid till software rather than any one product, and deliberately quotes no prices — those change, and a stale figure on a public page helps nobody. The last row is the honest one: a desktop till keeps billing through a power cut or a dead connection, and this does not.
Will my hardware work?
The second question after price, and usually answered with "compatible with most hardware", which tells nobody whether the scanner in their drawer will do.
Barcode scanner
Any wedge scannerUSB or Bluetooth, 1D or 2D. If it types the code like a keyboard — which is nearly all of them — it works. No driver, no configuration.
Receipt printer
80 or 58 mm thermalPrints from the browser through your normal printer driver, so anything Windows or macOS can already print to will work.
Counter computer
Anything with a browserAn old Windows PC, a laptop, a Mac or an Android tablet. There is no minimum spec beyond running a current browser.
Touchscreen
OptionalThe product catalogue is built for tapping, and the buttons are sized for fingers. A keyboard and mouse work just as well.
Cash drawer
Printer-triggered drawersA drawer wired to the receipt printer opens when the receipt prints, which is how most counter drawers are set up.
Weighing scale
Not integratedWeight is typed in as the quantity, or, with weighing-scale labels switched on in Invoice Settings, the barcode label a scale prints (weight or price) is scanned and read. VyapRise does not connect to the scale.
Moving your shop onto it
The work is your item list. Everything after that is a few minutes.
- 01
Get your items in
Import a spreadsheet if you have one — name, price, GST rate, HSN, barcode. Typing them in works too, and you can add items mid-bill as you meet them.
- 02
Record barcodes
Open an item, put the cursor in the Barcode field, scan the packet. That is the whole job, once per item, and it is what makes scanning work at the counter.
- 03
Set opening stock
Enter what is on the shelves at cost. Stock then moves on its own as you bill, so the shortage report means something from week one.
- 04
Create a terminal
Name your counter, point it at the godown its stock comes from, and set the bill number prefix you want printed.
- 05
Open a shift and bill
Enter the cash you are starting with. From there it is scan, F10, print — and at closing time the Z-report tells you what should be in the drawer.
Common questions
Is the POS free?
The POS is part of the Pro plan, which costs ₹1,499 per year. Every new company can try Pro, including the POS, free for 7 days, so you can try it at your own counter before paying. When the trial ends the company stays on the Free plan, which is free forever, and nothing is charged unless you choose to buy Pro. Pro has no per-terminal charge and no usage caps.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in a browser on any Windows PC, Mac, Android tablet or laptop. Open the page, sign in, start billing. There is nothing to download and nothing to keep updated.
Which barcode scanners work?
Any USB or Bluetooth wedge scanner — the kind that behaves like a keyboard, which is almost all of them. It types the code into the scan bar and the item is added. No driver and no configuration. Enter the barcode against each item once, on the product screen, and it is recognised from then on.
Can I use it without a barcode scanner?
Yes. Type two letters of the item name, SKU or barcode and pick from the list, or tap the product tiles on a touchscreen. Plenty of shops run entirely without scanning — loose goods have nothing to scan anyway.
Does it work if the internet goes down?
No. VyapRise POS is online software, so an internet connection is needed to bill. That is the honest answer — if your shop has frequent outages, a mobile hotspot as backup is worth having.
Can I run two counters at once?
Yes. Set up a terminal for each counter, and each runs its own shift with its own opening cash and its own Z-report. Each terminal is mapped to a warehouse, so a sale reduces stock where it actually left from.
Are counter sales included in my GST returns?
Yes. POS bills are ordinary tax invoices — CGST/SGST/IGST split by place of supply, HSN on every line. Sales without a GSTIN are summarised into GSTR-1 as B2CS; attach a customer with a GSTIN and the same bill goes into B2B.
What about udhaar / khata customers?
Bill to the customer's account and the amount goes to their outstanding balance instead of the cash drawer, so the shift still balances at close. Their ledger and the receivables ageing report pick it up like any other credit sale.
Can I take returns and exchanges at the counter?
Yes. Press F7, find the old bill, and take back the items being returned. Refund the cash, or scan the replacement and net the returned amount against the new bill. The returned goods go back into stock, and a return window setting stops very old bills from being taken back.
Does the till show a UPI QR code?
Yes. Choose UPI as the payment and the screen shows a scan-to-pay QR for that amount, paid into the UPI ID of the bank account you pick. If part of the bill goes on khata, the receipt prints a QR for the balance due.
Can I give loyalty points or run offers?
Yes. Loyalty points are off until you switch them on; named customers then earn points on their bills and redeem them inside the bill discount. Offers, such as % or ₹ off a category on weekends or during set hours, apply on the till by themselves. Both come with the POS on Pro.
Which printer do I need?
Any 80 mm or 58 mm thermal receipt printer. The receipt carries your shop name, address, GSTIN and logo, and prints straight from the browser — no print server to set up.
What is the difference between POS software and billing software?
Billing software is built for an invoice you raise occasionally, with the customer's full details on it. POS software is built for the counter — worked by keyboard and barcode scanner, telling you the change to hand back, and reconciling the cash drawer at the end of a shift. VyapRise has both, and they share the same items, stock and accounts.
Can I use it on an Android tablet or phone?
Yes. The till screen works in a mobile browser, and the layout stacks so the bill, the totals and the pay button all stay reachable on a small screen. A tablet at the counter with a Bluetooth scanner is a common setup.
How many items can I add?
On Pro, which the POS is part of, there is no limit and no charge that depends on it. The same is true of bills, customers, cashiers and terminals.
Can I see which cashier gave a discount?
Yes. Every bill records the cashier who rang it and the shift it belonged to, and each line carries its own discount — so a discount is always traceable to a person and a shift. The Z-report totals by cashier at close. Per-cashier limits, such as capping how much discount someone can give, are not enforced.
Does the sale reduce my stock automatically?
Yes, immediately, from the warehouse that terminal is mapped to. There is no nightly sync and no end-of-day adjustment — the stock report is correct while the shop is still open.
Can I sell at wholesale and retail rates from the same counter?
Yes. Set a trade price on the item and the quantity it starts at. Sell one piece and it bills at retail; sell the quantity you nominated and it switches to the trade rate on its own.
What happens to a bill I started but the customer walked away from?
Hold it with Ctrl+H and serve the next person. Press F4 to bring it back when they return. Held bills sit against the shift, so nothing is lost if the browser is closed.
Can I reprint a bill from yesterday?
F3 lists today's bills for a quick reprint at the counter. Older bills are in Sale Invoices, where any invoice can be found and printed again.
Is there a limit on the number of counters?
No. Create a terminal for each counter you run. There is no per-terminal licence, a charge many paid tills are priced around.
Do I need a GST number to use it?
No. Businesses below the registration threshold can bill without GST and use the same till. If you register later, add your GSTIN in settings and the same bills start carrying tax.
How long does it take to set up?
Add your items, create one terminal, open a shift and you are billing. If you already have a product list in a spreadsheet you can import it rather than typing it in.
