For scrap dealers, kabadi traders and recyclers

Scrap Billing Software for Buying by Weight and Selling to Recyclers

A scrap dealer buys by the kilo from kabadiwalas, households and workshops that have no GSTIN, sorts and bales the material, and sells it by the ton to a furnace or recycler that wants a proper GST invoice.

  • Buy in kg from sellers without a GSTIN
  • Reverse charge self-invoice from an RCM series
  • GST invoices to recyclers, by the ton
  • Challans and load sheets for each truck

What is Scrap Billing Software?

VyapRise is scrap billing software that books each purchase in kg, handles reverse charge on purchase bills with a self-invoice when the seller has no GSTIN, bills recyclers with GST, adds TCS at the % you enter on the sales invoice, keeps a TCS register and makes the quarter's Form 143 TCS statement file for your CA, sends loads on delivery challans and plans each truck on a load sheet.

Choose Scrap & recycling when you sign up. Other units, load sheets and GST sales invoices (with TCS) work on Free; purchase bills (with reverse charge), delivery challans, sale orders, price lists, the TCS register and the GSTR-3B report are part of Pro, free for your first 7 days.

What a scrap business needs from billing software

Buying from people with no GSTIN, selling to firms that want full GST bills, and every figure in kg or tons. These are the parts that matter.

  • Buy and sell by weight

Keep copper, brass, iron and plastic scrap in kg and add TON = 1000 KG as another unit. Buy in kg, sell in tons; stock stays in kg and the factor is saved on each line. Other units work on every plan.

  • Sellers without a GSTIN

Add each kabadiwala, workshop or factory you buy from as a supplier, with the GSTIN left blank when he has none; there is no limit on suppliers on any plan. Book what you buy on a purchase bill in kg at the rate you paid. Purchase bills are part of Pro.

  • Reverse charge on purchase bills

Set the bill's supply nature to reverse charge and the tax is self-assessed on it. When the supplier has no GSTIN, the bill takes a self-invoice number from an RCM- series, and the tax is reported in GSTR-3B. Pro.

  • GST invoices to recyclers

Bill a furnace, mill or recycler with HSN and GST on each line, place of supply and your bank details, in tons or kg. Free, 10 invoices a month.

  • TCS on sales invoices

With TCS on sales (scrap) on in Settings › Business Type (it is on by default for Scrap & recycling), a sales invoice takes a TCS %. TCS is that % of the bill value including GST, after round-off, worked out to the paisa. It is added to what the buyer owes, booked to a TCS Payable account and printed after the round-off. It is not GST, so your GST figures and returns do not change. Invoices dated from 1 April 2026 print "TCS @ x% (s.394)", the section of the new Income-tax Act, 2025. Every plan, and so is a buyer's PAN and usual TCS rate saved on the customer, which start each new invoice to that buyer. On Pro, a credit note gives back the TCS on what it credits.

  • TCS register and deposits

Reports › TCS Register shows TCS by buyer, month and quarter, net of credit notes; each month's TCS against the challan 281 deposits you record (they post to the books; a challan can carry interest and late fee), with the due date and paid, due or overdue; each quarter's due date; and a printable TCS statement per buyer. For years up to 2025-26 it gives a CSV per quarter for Form 27EQ. Pro.

  • Form 143 statement file

From 1 April 2026 the quarterly TCS statement is Form 143, which replaced Form 27EQ, and scrap's collection code is 1073. The TCS Register makes the quarter's Form 143 file (.txt, in Protean's published format). It first lists anything still missing, such as your TAN or PAN, a challan's BSR code or serial, or a buyer's PAN. Your CA checks the file with Protean's FVU, with the challan .csi file, and uploads it. Pro.

  • Delivery challans

Send a load on a delivery challan with the vehicle number and make the invoice from it later. The unbilled-challan report shows what is still to bill. Pro.

    What a delivery challan is
  • Load sheets by vehicle

Make a load sheet per vehicle or route from the day's saved invoices: what to load, delivered or returned against each invoice, and a PDF for the driver. Vehicle details print on the invoice. Free.

  • Rates by buyer

Put regular recyclers on a price list so their bills take their rate by themselves (Pro). On any bill, the last three rates you gave that buyer show under the rate box.

  • Sale orders from recyclers

A recycler books 20 tons of iron scrap for the month. The sale order tracks what has gone out and what is billed on each line, so you bill each lot as it goes. Pro.

A week at a scrap yard using VyapRise

Simple numbers, so you can follow each step.

Monday: buying at the yard. Three kabadiwalas bring copper wire, brass fittings and mixed iron. None has a GSTIN. You weigh on your own scale and enter a purchase bill in kg at the rate you paid: 42 kg of copper, 18 kg of brass and 640 kg of iron.

Monday: the reverse charge. For metal scrap bought from an unregistered seller, the buyer pays the GST under reverse charge. You set the supply nature to reverse charge, the bill takes a self-invoice number such as RCM-0001, and the tax goes to GSTR-3B.

Wednesday: a load to the furnace. 6 tons of iron scrap go out on a delivery challan with the truck number; the challan PDF goes with the driver.

Thursday: the bill. The furnace confirms 5.92 tons on its weighbridge. You make the invoice from the challan for 5,920 kg at the agreed rate, with GST on the line, and enter the TCS % your CA confirmed; the TCS prints after the round-off as "TCS @ x% (s.394)". The amount goes to the furnace's ledger with a due date.

Month end: GST. The GSTR-3B report shows the tax on your sales and the reverse charge tax on your purchases, ready for your CA to check and file.

Quarter end: the TCS statement. You record the month's challan 281 deposits and open the TCS Register. It lists what is still missing, here one buyer's PAN; you add it to the customer and make the quarter's Form 143 file. Your CA checks it with Protean's FVU and uploads it.

  • Reverse charge on scrap, and TCS or TDS on scrap sales, follow their own rules, which have changed in recent years. From 1 April 2026 TCS on scrap falls under section 394(1) of the Income-tax Act, 2025. Confirm what applies to each of your items with your CA. VyapRise adds TCS at the % you enter on each invoice; it does not decide whether TCS applies or at what rate and has no buyer-wise threshold.
  • VyapRise records the net weight you enter on the line. It does not capture gross and tare weights and has no weighbridge link.

Is VyapRise right for your scrap business?

The gaps, before you set it up.

A good fit if you

  • Buy scrap by weight from sellers who have no GSTIN
  • Sell sorted scrap by the ton to furnaces, mills or recyclers
  • Want reverse charge on purchases worked out on the bill and in GSTR-3B
  • Collect TCS on scrap sales at a rate your CA has confirmed
  • Send loads by truck and want a load sheet for each
  • Also trade in new steel, see steel and iron billing

Not a fit yet if you

Need gross, tare and net weights from a weighbridge: VyapRise records the net weight you enter and does not connect to a weighbridge or scale. It adds TCS at the % you enter and makes the quarter's Form 143 file for your CA, but does not file or upload the TCS return itself (your CA runs the FVU and uploads it) or issue the TCS certificate (it comes from TRACES), has no buyer-wise threshold, and does not decide whether TCS applies or at what rate. It does not generate e-way bills (on Pro it prepares the bulk-upload file for the portal). It runs in the browser and needs internet; there is no offline mode.

Common questions

Can I buy scrap from sellers who have no GSTIN?

Yes, on Pro. Add the seller as a supplier with the GSTIN left blank and enter what you bought on a purchase bill in kg at the rate you paid. Suppliers have no limit on any plan.

Does VyapRise handle reverse charge on scrap purchases?

Yes, on Pro. Set the purchase bill's supply nature to reverse charge and the tax is self-assessed. When the supplier has no GSTIN, the bill takes a self-invoice number from an RCM- series, and the GSTR-3B report shows the reverse charge tax. Confirm which of your purchases fall under reverse charge with your CA.

Can I buy in kg and sell in tons?

Yes, on every plan. Keep the item in kg and add TON = 1000 KG as another unit. A ton line moves 1,000 kg of stock, and the factor is saved on the line.

Does it record weighbridge gross and tare weight?

No. You enter the net weight on the line. VyapRise has no gross and tare fields and does not connect to a weighbridge or scale.

Does it handle TCS on scrap sales?

Yes, on every plan: under section 206C(1) up to 31 March 2026, and under section 394(1) of the Income-tax Act, 2025 from 1 April 2026. With TCS on sales (scrap) on in Settings › Business Type (on by default for Scrap & recycling), enter the TCS % on the sales invoice. TCS is worked out on the bill value including GST, after round-off, to the paisa; it is added to what the buyer owes, booked to a TCS Payable account and printed after the round-off. GST figures and returns do not change. On Pro, a credit note gives back the TCS on what it credits, and the TCS Register shows TCS by buyer and quarter and your recorded challan deposits against their due dates. VyapRise does not decide whether TCS applies or at what rate, so confirm with your CA.

Does VyapRise make the Form 143 TCS statement?

It makes the file, on Pro. From 1 April 2026 the quarterly TCS statement is Form 143, which replaced Form 27EQ, and scrap's collection code is 1073. The TCS Register makes the quarter's Form 143 file (.txt, in Protean's published format), after listing anything still missing: your TAN or PAN, a challan's BSR code or serial, or a buyer's PAN. Your CA validates it with Protean's FVU, with the challan .csi file, and uploads it. VyapRise does not file or upload the return and does not issue the TCS certificate, which comes from TRACES. For years up to 2025-26 the register still gives a CSV for Form 27EQ.

How much does scrap billing software cost on VyapRise?

The Free plan is free forever with 10 GST sales invoices a month (with TCS), other units and load sheets, for the owner alone. Purchase bills with reverse charge, challans, sale orders, price lists, the TCS register and Form 143 file, GST reports and staff users are part of Pro, at ₹1,499 per year, with no per-user charge.
