Tally vs Vyapar vs myBillBook in 2026: Which to Choose?
Tally, Vyapar and myBillBook compared by the job you need done: accounting depth, billing speed, mobile use, godowns, manufacturing and your CA.
In short
Pick Tally if accounting depth and your CA's workflow matter most and you work at a Windows desktop; pick Vyapar or myBillBook if fast billing from a phone matters most. Per their official sites, all three handle GST billing, stock and multiple godowns (myBillBook from its Pro plan), so the deciding questions are where you work, who keeps your books and how much of the factory floor you need to run.
- TallyPrime installs only on 64-bit Windows; its reports can be viewed in a phone browser, and a separate cloud access product is offered.
- Vyapar offers apps for Android, iOS, Windows and Mac, and promotes offline billing.
- myBillBook offers Android and iOS apps plus web access, and lists a Tally export among its reports.
- All three list multiple godowns (myBillBook from its Pro plan), and Tally and Vyapar list manufacturing features; compare the depth on a trial with your own items.
- Choose by the job: books and CA hand-off, counter billing speed, phone-first use, or factory planning.
Three good products built for different jobs
Tally, Vyapar and myBillBook come up in almost every conversation about billing software for a small business in 2026. Comparing them feature by feature is less useful than it sounds, because all three issue GST invoices, track stock and give you reports.
They differ in what they were built around. Tally started as accounting software that people run on a desktop. Vyapar and myBillBook started as billing apps that people run on a phone. That starting point still shapes how each one feels on a busy day.
This guide compares the three by the job you need done. The facts about each product come from their official websites as of October 2026. Plans and features change, so check the current details before you buy.

If accounting depth matters most
Pick the tool your books will live in, not just your bills.
Tally is the reference point for accounting in India. Its official site lists invoicing and accounting, banking, payroll, GST compliance and e-invoicing in one product. If you keep full books in-house, with journal entries, cost tracking and statutory reports, this is its home ground.
Vyapar and myBillBook list the books a trader needs day to day: sales, purchases, payments, profit and loss and GST reports. myBillBook also lists bank reconciliation. For a shop that bills and hands everything else to a CA, that is often enough.
The question to ask yourself: who prepares the balance sheet? If it is you or your accountant inside the software, depth matters. If it is your CA in their own software, the hand-off matters more.
If billing speed at the counter matters most
Speed at a counter comes from three things: finding the item fast, scanning barcodes, and printing without fuss.
- Vyapar lists a barcode generator and scanner and POS billing.
- myBillBook lists barcode billing and POS billing.
- Tally screens are built around keyboard entry, which is fast for a trained operator and can feel slower for a new helper.
Test with your real items. Type the five products you sell most often and time how long a ten-line bill takes. That one test tells you more than any feature list.
If you run the business from your phone
Vyapar and myBillBook were designed for this. Both list Android and iOS apps, so you can make a bill, check stock or send a reminder from the market.
Tally installs on Windows. Its help pages describe viewing TallyPrime reports in a phone browser, which covers checking receivables or the stock summary on the move. Tally also offers a cloud access product for using it remotely. Making bills from a phone is not its main use.
If you keep stock in more than one place
All three list multiple godowns. Tally describes unlimited godowns with location-wise reports. Vyapar describes godown management with stock transfers between locations. myBillBook’s plan page lists unlimited godowns from its Pro plan, and its site also lists batch and expiry tracking.
For a distributor, the details matter more than the checkbox: can you pick the godown on each invoice, receive goods into a chosen godown, and see a godown-wise stock report? Try those three steps on a trial. Our guide to tracking stock across godowns lists what to check.
If you manufacture
Tally has the longest manufacturing history of the three. Its help pages describe bills of materials, including multiple and multi-level BOMs, manufacturing journal vouchers and job work.
Vyapar lists a manufacturing option, on its manufacturing plan, that records production: raw materials out of stock, finished goods in. For myBillBook, check its current feature list.
What a small factory usually needs beyond that: a production order that checks material availability, a record of what was actually consumed against the plan, and the rejected quantity per run. Ask each vendor to show you a production run end to end with your own BOM. Our bill of materials format guide shows what a usable BOM looks like.
If your CA’s workflow decides it
Many CAs in India keep their clients’ books in Tally. If yours does, you have three options:
- Use Tally yourself, so there is nothing to transfer.
- Use billing software with a Tally export and send the data every month. myBillBook lists a Tally export among its reports.
- Send your CA GST reports and registers as PDF, CSV or Excel and let them enter the summary.
Ask your CA before you choose. Five minutes on the phone saves months of re-entry.
Where VyapRise fits
VyapRise is a browser-based GST billing and ERP for small Indian businesses. It is a billing screen with double-entry books behind it, in the browser.
What it does:
- GST invoices with CGST/SGST or IGST from the place of supply, HSN on every line, UPI QR, and 4 print layouts.
- Real double-entry books behind every invoice, bill and receipt, with party ledgers, receivable ageing and bank reconciliation (purchase bills and receipts are on Pro; the Free plan records payments on the invoice).
- Weighted-average stock value on the Free plan in one warehouse; multiple warehouses, stock transfers and GRN with QC status on Pro.
- Manufacturing on the Pro plan: BOM, production plans, production orders, job cards and quality checks, with material, labour and overhead costing, and job work with the ITC-04 file.
- TallyPrime XML export and import of ledgers and vouchers, and GSTR-2B reconciliation from the portal JSON, on Pro.
- Unlimited users on Pro with roles such as Accountant, Store Keeper and Cashier, at no per-user charge (the Free plan is for the owner alone).
What it does not do, so you can rule it out quickly: there is no native Android or iOS app and no offline mode, e-invoicing and e-way bill generation are not offered, and it does not file GST returns (on Pro, the filing desk checks GSTR-1 before filing and sends the return files to your CA). If any of those is a must-have, VyapRise is not the right pick.

Who should pick which
| Your situation | Likely fit |
|---|---|
| Full books in-house, Windows desktop, CA on Tally | TallyPrime |
| Shop owner billing from a phone, needs offline | Vyapar |
| Owner billing from phone or web, wants reminders and a Tally export | myBillBook |
| Trader or small factory wanting books, godowns and production in a browser, with many staff users | VyapRise (Pro) |
| Needs e-invoicing or e-way bill from the billing screen | Tally or Vyapar (both list it), or myBillBook’s Pro Max plan (check their current plans); not VyapRise |
Five questions to ask before you switch
- Where will I make most bills: counter PC, laptop or phone?
- Who prepares my final accounts, and in what software?
- How many godowns and how many staff need access?
- Do I need e-invoicing or e-way bills from the billing screen?
- Can I export my data if I leave?
Answer these on paper first. Then take a trial of your top two and make one real day’s bills in each.
Try VyapRise with your own items
If a browser-based setup with proper books, godowns and optional manufacturing sounds right, start a free trial and enter one day’s real bills. The pricing page shows what is on the Free and Pro plans.

Frequently asked questions
Which is better for a small business in 2026: Tally, Vyapar or myBillBook?
It depends on the job. Tally suits a business that wants deep accounting at a Windows desktop and a CA who already works in Tally. Vyapar and myBillBook suit owners who bill from a phone and want quick setup. List your top three daily tasks and test each product with your own items before deciding.
Can I use Tally on my phone?
TallyPrime itself installs on Windows. Tally's official help describes viewing TallyPrime reports in a phone or tablet browser, and Tally also sells a cloud access product. Data entry on a phone is not what it is built around, so check the current options on Tally's site.
Do Vyapar and myBillBook have mobile apps?
Yes. Both list Android and iOS apps on their official sites. Vyapar also lists Windows and Mac apps, and myBillBook lists web and PC access.
Which one does my CA prefer?
Ask them. Many CAs in India keep client books in Tally, so whatever you bill in, check how the data will reach them. myBillBook lists a Tally export, and VyapRise offers Tally Prime XML export and import on its Pro plan.
Does VyapRise have a mobile app?
No. VyapRise runs in the browser at app.vyaprise.com on a PC, tablet or phone and can be added to the home screen, but there is no Play Store app and no offline mode.
Can I move my data from one of these to another?
Customers, vendors and items usually move through an Excel or CSV export from the old software. Transactions are harder. Plan the switch at the start of a financial year or a month, and keep the old software for reference.
